Sun Salutations are a set of postures we use in our Singing Yogis class, to help wake up the mind and the body with lots of added benefits. These poses are simple, flow from one into another, and - in Singing Yogis - are accompanied by a cheerful rhyme that the children quickly learn and love to repeat.

Why Sun Salutations? Well for one, who couldn’t use a little extra sunshine in their lives? There are a plethora of benefits to this simple routine that not only help your child’s physical development, but also their emotional development AND mental health! Here are our favorites:
Sun Salutations are routines, and routines are an optimal way for children to learn, build self-confidence, self-discipline and more!
Sun Sals literally warm up the body! Not only do they gently stretch your muscles and get your blood flowing (which gives you energy), this sequence will also create a little heat to warm you up on those chilly mid-winter days.
The repetitive patterns of movement gives a racing mind a much needed break and can create clarity and focus in both kiddos and adults alike!
Likewise, the repetitive movements of a Sun Sal also relaxes the body. Just one or two rounds can drastically reduce stress and anxiety!
This last one might seem obvious, but it is important nonetheless! Sun salutations improve balance, coordination, and motor skills which are crucial to child development.
