Student of the Month: Meet Maggie

We love our students! They inspire us, they challenge us, they make us laugh and smile. But most importantly, they are each wonderful, unique individuals getting ready to go out into the world and make amazing things happen! That’s why we are highlighting one of our amazing students every month.

This spring, we have three very special students to feature.  They are each graduating seniors, headed off on new adventures after high school!

Meet this month’s featured student: Maggie!

Maggie began taking cello lessons with Miss Rachel three years ago, having already studied piano. Since then, she has grown into a well-rounded, independent multi-instrumentalist and performer, and we couldn't be more proud!

When did you first get into music?

I started piano lessons at an early age, but took a break for awhile. Beginning cello lessons three years ago helped me want to branch out with other instruments, and bring me back into music in general.

What do you enjoy most about playing music?

I love playing music with other people. Group performances, even just jam sessions, I really enjoy.

Do you have a favorite musical memory?

I really can't pick a favorite of mine, but I would say first recitals and first group performances were great because every time, I would get always get really nervous, but it always ends up being great.

What are some of your favorite pieces that you have learned?

I'd been listening to Bach and Chopin since even before I started the cello, so learning their pieces on the cello and piano were so much fun.

What are your post-high school plans?

I love English, music, and culinary arts, so I hope to study or work in a field involving any of those three.

How do you see music playing a role in your life as an adult?

I hope to keep bringing music to peoples' lives. When you perform, it's such a nice feeling seeing how happy it makes people. Even when I'm just a part of an audience, I always have a good time seeing other people play music.
