Student of the Month: Meet Todd
We love our students! They inspire us, they challenge us, they make us laugh and smile. But most importantly, they are each wonderful, unique individuals getting ready to go out into the world and make amazing things happen! That’s why we are highlighting one of our amazing students every month.
This spring, we have three very special students to feature. They are each graduating seniors, headed off on new adventures after high school!
Meet this month’s featured student: Todd!
Todd began learning piano with Miss Rachel back in 2015, after being introduced to the instrument in his school's music class. He "graduated" to studying with Ms. Lisa not long after. We love his passion for classic rock, and he brought the house down with his performance of Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" at our spring 2019 recital!
Why did you first get into music?
I got into music at a very young age because of my dad. I heard the Beatles’ Abbey Road album and since then I listen and play music all the time.
What do you enjoy most about playing music?
I enjoy music mostly because you can be yourself, either creating your own song or putting your own twist on a pre-existing song.
Do you have a favorite musical memory?
My favorite musical memory is when I was in the second grade, when I brought my dad’s album into my music class and got to say, “That’s my dad singing and playing guitar.”
What are some of your favorite pieces that you have learned?
My favorite pieces I learned would be Tiny Dancer by Elton John and Let It Be by The Beatles.
What are your post-high school plans?
I am going to Mount Saint Mary College for Childhood Education and plan to, while I’m there, continue playing piano for fun.
How do you see music playing a role in your life as an adult?
I feel that when I’m a teacher I’ll use music to inspire my students the same way music inspired me to succeed.
