What IS Kindermusik?
Many parents, grandparents, and other caregivers ask us: "so, what IS Kindermusik, anyway?"
What Kindermusik is NOT: Kindermusik is not about turning out mini-Mozarts.
What Kindermusik IS: Kindermusik is a beautifully holistic early childhood experience that immerses young children in music, movement, imagination, while nurturing the precious bond between child and parent - and forming new friendships, too!
And Kindermusik's mission is perfectly aligned with ours here at The Harmony Garden. We know how important it is for children to have the freedom to explore, discover, and express themselves with the loving support of the adults in their lives.
What do we actually DO in class, though, you might wonder?
In each Kindermusik class, children sing, dance, move creatively, play pretend, discover instruments, use their ears and voices, and make precious memories with the adults that love them. Our faces typically hurt by the end of class from smiling and laughing so much!
Through the freedom to play and explore, children develop the most fundamental yet most critical skills:
They discover all the amazing things they can do, from moving their bodies, to communicating with their voices, to playing a drum.
They learn to problem solve, think outside of the box, and explore their amazing world through all of their senses.
They learn how to identify their emotions and develop empathy for others as they learn to navigate their first friendships.
They discover their own unique preferences and abilities, and how to express these with their words and actions.
They become quite awesome little musicians, too, as they learn to play instruments together, on cue, and with expression.
Don't worry, grown-ups - we haven't left you out!
Along the way, we empower you - your child's first and best teacher - to be the best parent you can be. With beautiful home materials that enable you to extend the class experience throughout the week, Kindermusik becomes more than a weekly class. It becomes a joyful way of being with your child, nurturing his or her growth, and nurturing the special bond that the two of you share. You'll gain insightful knowledge of how your child is growing and learning, so that you can best support all of those (sometimes awkward and difficult) phases of development.
Watching each of our Kindermusik students grow from a tiny baby to an inquisitive, confident young child is a phenomenal joy!
