Student of the Month: Meet Katie

We love our students! They inspire us, they challenge us, they make us laugh and smile. But most importantly, they are each wonderful, unique individuals getting ready to go out into the world and make amazing things happen! That's why we are highlighting one of our amazing students every month.

Meet this month's featured student: Katie! 

Now in 3rd grade, Katie began piano lessons in 2014, and also began studying guitar in January 2018. She brings a smile everywhere she goes, and her enthusiasm for life is infectious. We had a blast doing a little photo session and interviewing her about what she loves most about being a musician. What do you enjoy most about playing music?

I like to hear myself get better when I practice and I challenge myself to do better each time I practice.

Do you have a favorite musical memory?

When my cousin first taught me Heart & Soul on the piano and now we play it as a duet.

What is your favorite song to play?

My favorite song on the piano is Dance of the Irish, and my favorite guitar song is Walking Bass Rock.

What is a song you would like to learn to play?

I'd like to learn how to play "Free" by Zac Brown Band on the guitar.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

The ability to fly or talk to animals.

What animal would you be, if you were not a human?

A seal or snow leopard.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I want to be an American Ninja Warrior, a pastry chef, and a crafter when I grow up.
