And, it keeps them coming back to the keys over and over again!
(And yes, piano hopscotch is a thing!)

-
Yes - the class will use a set of three consecutive lesson books. These are each typically $10 plus tax, and will be billed to your account on file.
-
Engaging with piano outside of class is critical to your child’s growth, success, and confidence. If you do not have an instrument, we will be happy to help you find a high-quality instrument to purchase or rent. We also stock a limited availability of starter keyboards.
-
Piano Adventures classes at The Harmony Garden are around 45 minutes in length once a week.
Because continuity in learning is important, we’ve arranged the schedule so that once your child begins their Piano Adventures journey, they can continue in their same class time uninterrupted as we move through each book and level together.
-
Because learning is cumulative, new students cannot join an ongoing class once the group has passed the halfway point of Book 1. New classes will be added, so please reach out to be added to a wait list if there is not currently a class for your child to join.
-
Each class is packed with fun and learning! Because children learn best in a playful atmosphere that engages all the senses and different learning modes, piano classes combine singing, rhythm activities, movement, games, imagination-rich play, composition, improvisation, and of course independent and ensemble piano playing to build confidence, solidify musical concepts, and healthy social skills. Your young musician will be begging for the next class!
-
Parents are an instrumental part of their child’s musical learning. No prior musical knowledge on your part is required! Best of all, making music together provides for precious “bonding on the bench” time at home.
After each class your teacher will add the week’s practice notes, assignments, and resources to your secure Practice Space account. Practicing to earn points and gems will motivate your child, and the resources provided will empower you to support your pianist with confidence.

We love that Piano Adventures makes learning the piano accessible to children at a younger age than most other learning approaches. That said, readiness for piano lessons can vary widely among young children. Little ones develop and change rapidly! Piano Adventures is designed to help them grow and learn, and creates the most feelings of success when children begin once they are truly ready. Sometimes, waiting just a few months can make all the difference and provide the most joy and confidence as your young musician flourishes!
Here are some milestones a new Piano Adventures student should have:
Be at least 5 years of age
Ability to count to at least 10
Solid one-to-one correspondence (ability to count each of their fingers)
Ability to hold and write with a pencil or crayon
Ability to follow simple two-step instructions
A genuine interest in music or the piano!
-
Young pianists may spend up to a year working through one book / level of Piano Adventures. As our students grow, higher levels of group programs will be added! After the age of 7, those students who demonstrate the attention span, desire, and mastery of concepts needed for private lessons can book an introductory private lesson with one of our instructors to gauge their readiness for this peak musical learning experience.
-
Our mission is not just for each child's musical experience to be a joyful one that brings them confidence in every other area of their life. That's why it’s critical that each student start at the right level and pace for them - and this is different for each child.
Group piano is so successful because it is designed specifically for the developmental needs of the early elementary aged child: an age that learns best through multi-sensory, play-based social experiences with their peers.
Over the last decade we have found a prior musical experience such as Piano Adventures provides the best transition into the more intensive private lesson environment. For this reason, a program such as group piano is prerequisite for beginning private lessons under the age of six.
