Student of the Month: Tommy

We love our students! They inspire us, they challenge us, they make us laugh and smile. But most importantly, they are each wonderful, unique individuals getting ready to go out into the world and make amazing things happen! That’s why we are highlighting one of our amazing students every month.

Meet this month’s featured student: Tommy

Tommy began piano lessons in October, 2019 and added vocal studies the following fall. For only two years of formal musical study, he already has a strong personal style and artistic maturity. He always comes to his lessons with boundless enthusiasm, great energy, and an infectious sense of humor. In piano lessons, he’s particularly drawn to classical pieces, and in voice lessons he brings his own flair to songs that he enjoys listening to and singing with his family. When he’s a famous singer-songwriter someday we hope he remembers us and gives us back-stage passes!

Q: What do you enjoy most about playing music?

A: I enjoy the struggle of being creative. I always want to make something original.

Q: Do you have a favorite musical memory?

A: When I started listening to Taylor Swift. She made me really want to sing and became my idol. I loved singing and dancing to “Shake it Off” with my sister when we were little.

Q: What is your favorite song to play?

A: This is a hard one because there’s a lot I like to play and listen to. But I think my favorite right now is “My Daydream” because it’s calming to play and listen to.

Q: What is a song you would like to learn to play?

A: “Enemy” by Imagine Dragons

Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?

A: Not sure. I’m leaning towards a performer and songwriter, or a Paleontologist because I’m really fascinated by it.

Q: What is your favorite color?

A: Orange

Q: What animal would you be, if you were not a human?

A: A Red Panda

Q: If you could have any superpower what would it be?
