Dear Harmony Garden Families,

Maintaining an environment that is clean & healthy has always been paramount here at The Harmony Garden. With all the recent developments with COVID-19, we know that you are probably worried about how to keep your family healthy and happy. We are here to support you, and want you to have peace of mind when bringing your children for their lessons or classes.

Our Cleaning Procedures:

Though we feel our existing policies and cleaning procedures are effective in preventing the spread of illness, we have doubled down on our efforts to maintain a clean & healthy environment by:

  • Cleaning piano keys, benches, and seats between each student
  • Sanitizing chairs, doorknobs, light switches, and toys daily
  • Cleaning all Kindermusik instruments and props after every class using child-safe products and procedures approved by the CDC
  • Shampooing the Kindermusik carpet at least weekly
  • Hiring professional cleaners to do an extra scrubbing every week

Let’s All Do Our Part: Scrub-A-Dub-Dub!

We ask that all students wash their hands prior to each lesson or class. Teachers are also washing their hands regularly. You are welcome to use the sink and soap in our large classroom, or the restrooms in our building.  Additionally, hand sanitizer and child-safe hand wipes are distributed throughout the studio.

If you or your child feel at all unwell, we ask that you stay home to rest and recover.  If your child is well enough for a virtual lesson with his or her teacher, that is now possible!

Virtual Lesson Options:

We completely respect anyone’s decision to avoid public places, including our studio, during this time.

We also know that keeping as consistent a routine as possible is important for both your child’s musical growth and emotional health. Right now, children are hearing the news and picking up on the fear and uncertainty of adults around them. It is during times like this that sticking to seemingly simple daily routines helps young people feel safe and secure in the predictability of their day-to-day. And, it doesn’t hurt that the act of making music releases endorphins and decreases stress hormones – so let’s keep the music going!

Beginning Monday, March 16, we are offering virtual lessons via Zoom to any students who would prefer to take their lesson from home.  Lesson will be with your regular teacher at your regular lesson time. If you prefer for a lesson to be virtual, please notify us as early as possible, preferably two hours before your scheduled time so we can set up the online meeting.  You will receive an email with a unique link for your online lesson. In the virtual lesson, your child and teacher will be able to see and hear each other, just as if they were in the same room. All you need to do is set a laptop, tablet, or smartphone next to your piano or on your music stand!

Virtual Kindermusik Classes:

At this time, our class schedule will continue as usual.  We hope we are a safe place for you and your child to come and spend time together, especially if you’re feeling a little stir crazy from staying at home more these days. A consistent routine is especially important for our Kindermusik children under the age of five, so we encourage you to continue to engage in music time either in-studio or from the comfort of your living room.

If you choose to stay home during your class time, we can set up a live feed so you can still join in class activities and see your friends from the comfort of home. Get out all your instruments, your story books, and get ready to dance around the living room!

We  always offer unlimited class make-ups for the duration of your enrollment.  If you choose to stay home for the next few weeks, you can attend as many classes as you can possibly stand when you are ready to return, and we will welcome you back with open arms.

Finally, we will be holding some extra classes over spring break to provide you with extra make-up opportunities:

  • Wednesday, April 7 at 9:30 – Foundations & Level 2
  • Wednesday, April 7 at 10:30 – Level 3
  • Wednesday, April 7 at 6:00 – All ages 0-5!
  • Thursday, April 8 at 9:30 – Foundations & Level 2
  • Thursday, April 8 at 10:30 – Level 3

We want to make sure that everyone has received this communication, so please drop a quick reply (if on email) or comment (if on Facebook) that you received this.

We are here for you! Please reach out with questions, thoughts, and ideas!
